Skill Ceiling with an On-Ramp
Dichotomy Beta overhauled Silver Palace combat around dodging, perfect parries, stamina management, and stun/groggy buildup—raising the skill ceiling after Monotype feedback. Elementa's official materials also confirm a new combat-assist system so newcomers and accessibility-focused players can learn the loop without abandoning the Victorian detective fantasy. Assist is optional; competitive players can leave every helper off.

What Combat Assist Covers
- Parry timing helpers: Expanded windows or visual cues layered on yellow telegraphs so perfect parries remain learnable—see parry system.
- Stamina guidance: Soft caps or recovery hints that reduce empty-stamina punishment while you learn dodge cadence—pair with stamina & groggy.
- Target / lock assist: Easier focus during multi-enemy Gaslight Quarter fights and execution prompts.
- Partner swap prompts: Optional reminders when Silverdrip stacks reach detonation thresholds—see Silverdrip resonance.
Who Should Enable Assist
Enable assist if you are returning from Monotype and relearning Dichotomy's split dodge/parry binds, playing primarily for investigation and story, or using accessibility needs around reaction timing. Disable assist for benchmark bosses, parry challenge leaderboards, and optimizing team comps around frame-perfect rotations.
Assist does not replace character investment—Scream-tier burst from Cinderella still needs stagger windows opened by correct defensive play.
Assist vs Manual Mastery
| Mode | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Full assist | Story, exploration, first hours | Lower peak DPS and execution score |
| Partial assist | Mixed investigation / combat sessions | Some helpers on, parry still manual |
| Assist off | Elites, Vita et Mors practice, theorycraft | Highest skill demand |
Training Path
Central Station parry dummies remain the best place to graduate off assist. Drill yellow versus red telegraphs, then practice executions on Vita et Mors once stamina and groggy timing feel natural. Video learners can follow our parry video guide with assist temporarily enabled, then disable helpers segment by segment.
